Spiritual renewal

People have different habits based on their beliefs and cultures. When they want to retreat themselves for the daily life as we have to face many economics, relationships and health problems every day. Some people like to disconnect from the normal life, it is usuall for some people get closer to God by fasting, going to church or visit a spiritual community in a vacation. Others just go to places to relax themselves , doing some meditation activities as yoga, or pamper themselves on a spa.

I personally go to church with my family and spend time with them, I'm not a religious person, so basically it is hard to know what it common for people as a spitual ritual.

Feng shui

Feng shui is an anciet asian art of placing objects and buildings to arrange balance and harmony, according to many sources on the web site. Despite of the uses of this art dates back 6th century, it is being practiced all around the world; if we stop for a minute and look objects around our aunts, grandmothers and some of our relatives houses, we can relate how they placed furniture, it is based on feng shui.

When I was a child I used to visit my mom's mother, she always placed plants in her house, and according to feng shui plants make air pure and bring harmony, also my aunt Mercedes placed mirrors in her living room, when she made her home decorations, feng shui says mirror in the living room brings you more friends. It was common for her to open windows and let lights to come into the house, which it is good because it lets bad energy goes out.

I also can remember my father having a fishbowl in our living room, which it stimulate good luck and wealth. Apparently the most simple order you place an object means something in feng shui. Now I know the importance and value of feng shui in our environment.

I thought that employees should have more privacy in their work many times the employers violets their rights keep an eye in their freetime, at work, employers not should use method of eavesdropping that is illegal to all companies. They should haves safeguards that guaranties a best production , It ´s good that there is  a lag of call for keeping a control in companies. 

SPIRITUAL RENEWAL, FINDING YOURSELF

According to Chronicles verses 30 and 31, there are 6 steps to spiritual renewal:

1.- Remember God´s past faithfulness (30: 2,3)
2.- Keep going despite ridicule (30:10)
3.- Aggressively seek to remove evil influences from your life (30:14, 31:1)
4.- Confess your Sin to God (30:22)
5.- Be open to spontaneous praise worship (30:25)
6.- Contribute generously to God´s work (31:4-8)

I was talking with a person who knows about the Bible and told me those verses from the Bible . It is important that we search the outside world for something that we already possess inside. Look inward and you will always be at home. So stop worrying about unnecessary things, being each day with a prayer it will arm your soul, control your appetite this will be good for your body and mind. Accept your limitations, do not envy anyone, it wastes time and energy. Have faith in people, find a hobby it will relax your nerves, read a book a week to stimulate imagination, spend time alone for the peace of solitude and silence and try to want what you have, instead of spending your strength trying to get what you want.

And above all things pray to God and lay all your troubles on him.

Feng Shui is frowned upon as mere superstitions outside of China and USA. but hard bitten is feng shui Europe, USA, China Canada as transcendent for business, the number nine, red color is create harmony and good luck. Alming things  in the environment  to create harmony and good luck  feng shui is art and a scene feng shi for expert can affect many aspects of our live such as health  happiness and fortune. 

in classical feng shui water always symbolizes wealth and abundance, the theorry behind feng shui is that there is an  invisible life of energy call chi (chee)  that circulate throught all things how sense immediately if the chi is circulating properly. 

WORKPLACE PRIVACY, SOME USE OF TRACKING DEVICE

Nowadays inside the majority of the enterprises, there are cameras as a security method, it helps you with this process because our bosses can not keep up with everything.

In my opinion, must be cameras in some important parts of the building in an enterprise, for instance in the hall so we can do this surveillance, another place is where there is not much flow of people because if the people know that there are no cameras it is easier to check some irregularity. So this type of security must be installed in the warehouse area of a company.

Cameras inside the bathrooms are forbidden , also in the lockers room and first aid rooms. With the cameras also you can be notified that who is working really or who don´t, sometimes we as employees we feel that they are watching us all the time and you do not know if those cameras have a microphone inside and they could be listening what we are saying.

So we have to try quiet at work and take it easy if there are cameras, after all, it is for our bosses´ own good.

FENG SHUI, A PEACEFUL PLACE TO FIND YOURSELF

A long time ago I wrote a post about my room, my place, but I did not know that I could apply this beautiful technique: The Feng Shui.

First, we gonna start with the colors, the positions of the things in your room and the elements that are involved. According to some picture that I found on the Net, we have the North of the room in which are involved the following: the element water, with the colors blue and black, these bring career luck, so in this position, we can put a black desk with a blue chair on it just beside the door. Then we have Nort-East in which are involved the element earth, brown, yellow and pink color and these bring education luck so we can put a small piece of pink furniture with a little brown carpet and besides this a yellow bookcase. Then we have the North-West which is involved metal element, white, gold and silver colors and these bring travel luck and helpful people in this part of the room, we can put a litter white drawer with a little metal stool.

Also, we have the East which is involved the wood element, green color and brings family and health. In this part of the room, we can put a green rest chair. The South-East, in this part of the room we have as element and color as the East, but with different reward: wealth so we can put on this side of the room a big green rest furniture with some little table beside. Now we have the south, on this side of the room we have the fire, red and these will bring name and fame and in this part of the room, we can put a big bed with red covers and two nightspots. In the southwest, we have earth element, brown, yellow and pink colors and bring romance luck.

With this technique, we can build a peaceful place to be, to have our pleasant place, and t is important not to have any electronic device, it is better to have many books which you can read.  

                          Tipping point.                              When we talking about tipping point we talking about changes and an important one occurred here in santo domingo  being clear the tipping point was in the public transportation of santo domingo. we are using the subway of santo Domingo until 2009 that is a public transportation that transport thousands of people in santo domingo , thanks of subway we can be on time in our works and university. Time before get on time on work and in university was awful and we had to wake up very early and even that we arrived late. But now we can be on time in our work and university and at the same time we can safe a little mony, because for example you took three or four cars for arriving to your work on time maybe now with he subway you just take maybe two or three cars. For me this is a big tipping point and I hope that one day the subway can spread everywhere that would be awesome.

Workplace privacy.

Nowdays worplaces are using high technology to monitor their employees. The fact, you're being monitored cause you more stress and tension. It is true that employers can evalute how the job is being done. However, some companies are going beyond the limit. It should be parameters to protect the employees privacy rights.

Some companies policies are just disrespectful and degrading to the employees integrity. One thing I believe is so irrelevant is asking someone's last salary in a job interview, I mean that information is not important , or are they going to pay you base in your prior salary? That doesn't make any sense to me. Employers should evalute base on the quality and not invade employees spaces.

Honesty the best policy.

Is it always good to say the truth?

When I was a little child, my parents always told me you have to be honest no matter what. However, I don't believe that the truth is always the solution. Lying is part of our lifes as truth as well, if you decide to be honest you should find the right words to tell something because you may hurt somebody's feelings.

The truth will pop up unexpectedly even when you try to conceal it. Although lying in certain situations is necessary for example; conversations with children or someone with a terminal disease. But that does not mean you'll be lying everyone. I just think before we tell something we better analize the pros and cons. We should decide what we consider to be correct.

Internet addictions and its websites.

Internet use is increasing more every second, people are being more depending of the use of the internet in their daily life. Internet addicters expend many hours a day, just texting, downloading, searching info, shopping or posting opinions in blogs.

Internet users live in a virtual word where they disconnect from reality, spending less time with people. The connectivity of the web sites around the world makes people less sociable and more distracted; they just waste valuable moments of their lifes.

According to many web sites, some of the most popular sites are:
a) Social media: Facebook, Twitter, Google, Wikipedia, Snapchat, YouTube, whatSApp; on these ones users are able to text, post, share videos and pictures, searching for info, and listening to music.
b) shopping sites: eBay, Amazon, Alibaba.com, Wal-Mart.com and Corotos.com; on these ones users can purchase and sell anything on the media marketing, also we have dating adds such as Tinder and Badoo, created for people who want to find the love on the web. There are billion of sides created for every people on the internet, and there is no doubt that everything get easier just just clicking there and here but we have to be careful and do not be consumed by the internet.

Spiritual Renewal
I think the Spiritual Renewal is very important in the life.
Sometimes work and work and the peple dont remember in Jesús , not remember in the Holy Bible in his promise his mercy , love ,truth.
God is the most important love on the World if you believe in Jesús his mercy can change everything in your life , he can break every chain.
Fasting, refráin from and go to the   Church not change the life but his mercy can change everything

Workplace Pivacy

     Privacy in our workplaces is definitely a relevant issue, because is important to maintain a surveillance for protection, and in case of anything happen. And of course employers and business owners have the right to keep an eye on what their employees are doing but, on the other hand, employees doesn’t have any certainty of how that information is being used, at least in the Dominican Republic.


     For example on my job, like a year ago the owners placed several cameras more than they had before. I understand that in a case of robbery they need those cameras for caught the criminals, but is a hard contrast when I see my boss monitoring the cameras in her cell phone, at any time when she is arriving or leaving, with no other reason, at least for me, than to spy us. I know it sounds a bit exaggerated but that’s how I feel, like if she doesn’t trust in us her employees. And this is the main problem, trust.


      My workplace is not a big one, and we are not more than fifteen employees in six separated areas. At first we felt like our relative privacy was invaded, but we get used to the cameras with time. Even so the feeling of being on constant surveillance for other reasons that for our protection, it bothers me.


     But generally speaking, having cameras surveillance in spaces where we work, shop, or have fun is a necessary safety measure that must be managed with responsibility and not like a personal reality show.

Spirituality

     Since the beginning of live, human beings had felt a need for explain things on their environment that were outside of their limited knowledge. And in a search for answer questions such as: how rain falls? And, why the sun rises and set every day? They create legends of a higher power that controls nature elements around them, and their very lives. And gods were born in a need to answers. In different cultures around the world and through history human beings had shown in many ways their need to approach to a divinity superior power in search of guide and comfort.


     Time passed, and like humans evolved, their relation with spiritual world did so, and religions start to appear; Judaism, Islam, Christianism, and Buddhism, are the most extended in the western world, Middle East and Asia.  Each one of those religions has millions of followers in several countries around the world, and in spite of its roots are related, their traditions and ways of live their faith are different.


     Nowadays, even though each person professes a different religion, everyone lives its spirituality in a personal way sharing a general feeling of unity. Of course there is people who feel they don’t need a religion for being in touch with their spirituality, with the knowledge of good and bad is enough for them. Many other people likes their religions and everything it carries.


     As I said at the beginning, spirituality is a need of human beings, it is part of what define us, it helps us to focus. Religions are a way to explore our spirituality in a community way, surrounded of people with the same needs to connect with a superior power, something bigger than us.

Feng Shui

    Feng shui is descibed as the rules of an ancient Chinese philosophy that govern spatial arrangement and orientation, in relation to pattern of yin and yang and the flow of energy. Those rules take into account for favorable and unfavorable effects in Buildings and furniture designe. Feng shui is also described as an art and a science.


    From second half of twentieth century this philosophy has extended in several countries through Asian continent, European continent and North and South of American continet. In The United States its popularity has increased since architects, real states developers and interior designers start to using principles of feng shui to build and arrange places for people to living and work, based on supposed benefits of a positive flow of energy that feng shui provides.


    This practice also has detractors who qualify it as a pseudoscience with no scientific bases which verify its functionality. Skeptical people wondered if everything about feng shui it’s truth or just a fairy tale for having more sales or clients. In spite of it many feng shui experts believe on its worth and support it with several anecdotes of people whose lives dramatically changed, from negative to positive, after taste feng shui practices in their lives.


    Tale or truth, feng shui it’s an ancient tradition with hundreds of years of activity, and it’s being followed for people who wants to try something different to bring harmony and balance to their lives.

                      Spiritual renewal.                                spiritual renewal is pretty close or related with religion, but at the same time I think that you can have a spiritual renewal without you have to belong to a specific religion. I think you can have a renew or refill in that way. For example you can retire yourself in a monastery or a mount or whatever place where you find peace, you need to avoid hectic places and you need people vibrant that motivate your will. fasting is a great way of get your spiritual renewal you can do it, refrain from the thing that you love is for me really good. Other thing in which you have to work is in your humility and gratitude that two thing are essential for replenish your soul. You can do all that thing without you have to  belong of any religion. In the same way if you belong to any religion you can do that thing too many religions like eastern religion uses fasting.

                         Workplace privacy.                      Actually I work for a company in where are a system of surveillance it feel a little weird that everything that you do or talk is watching for others. At the same time we feel demeaned for our employer. The employer says that they have right of use surveillance with the end of evaluate the quality of our work. I think, that for a way surveillance is great because it could be helpful for the employees because we can use it as a way of protection for the employees of many thing. Now I accept the surveillance and the other thing related with deter quality of our work, ok the thing which I'm not agree is with the people that eavesdropping our personal conversation and when they force us willy-nilly to take drug test.

911 is using by the poor population is comforble and fast too.

Workplace Privacy.

Employers have a legitimate interest in monitoring work to ensure efficiency and productivity. For me this practice is good, because I have seen many people in the news they were recorded by cameras, when they pretend that they were hurt in work just for getting money from the company they are working.


For example: This employee of a Florida company in the United States, dropped an object from the ceiling on her desk and then struck with it to simulate an accident at work. After checking that she was alone she took that piece and hurt herself on the head.


This woman tried to make her believe that she had fallen directly to her from the ceiling, but she didn't know, that there was a security camera recording the whole scene, and the company could defend about this fraud.

 

Workplace privacy

I know it is important for every company and employers to see what their employees are doing during the work hours and I don’t think that it’s something bad, for me everything depends on where you work and what is your job, because I believe there are places where it is necessary to have surveillance and there are places where it’s not.

I really don’t feel well working in a place where they have cameras everywhere, even in the cafeteria, because it’s difficult for me not to have privacy at all, people need privacy in some places and some moments of their daily lives and routines

But surveillance it’s something that is spreading more and more every day so my opinion about this topic is that we will have to get use to work like that or not working at all if we are not willing to do it being watched. 

Spiritual Renewal

This is a topic I like because it’s about divinity and although they talk about many religions there is one important thing and it is that the main goal of this unit it’s to let us know how can we get closer to God no matter what name they call Him in each religion. I have practiced some of the ways they mention in the unit  to renew my spirit, fasting, praying, I read the Bible and I used to go to church but I don’t go now. Even though I’m not going to church anymore I still believe in God and His divinity, I still talk to Him every time I need to and I thank Him every single day because I’m still alive and for the thinks He has given me and the things He hasn’t, and the most important thing I still believe He is good all the time…

In Chinese culture wind and water are associated with good health, thus good feng shui came to mean good fortune, while bad feng shui means bad luck, or misfortune. Feng shui is based on the Taoist vision and understanding of nature, particularly on the idea that the land is alive and filled with Chi, or energy.

To finish I just want to say that I would like to try this science to see if really works beacuse I am not so sure about it right now.

The supertition, wealth and good luck are the principals parts in their buildings ,they like to put water becauses this elemente simbolize the abundance and wealth.

Well, in my opinion. The workplace must be a place where you can work without pressure, great technological advances have simplified the life of humans but at the same time  it has become in something to worry about it, many of these technological advances are being used in a bad way, as in the case of surveillance cameras.📹

Many companies have surveillance cameras in inappropriate places, and because of this many employees don't work well since they don't feel in confidence because all their movements are monitored 👀 and I think this causes stress, but on the other hand the security cameras protect the employee from possible thefts💂 and  the employers of any problem that happens within the company.🔫👮

          The Tipping Point refes to the most important moments in the people's life or the most important historical dates or  moments of a country or city.  The tipping points for a human being are his birth date, his marriage date, his childrens' birth dates, and his parents' birth dates. The Dominican Republic has several tipping points that are histgorical dates, beggining with the independance day February 27, 1844, Trujillo' s death in 1961,  the civil war in April in 1965, and 1978, the year Dr. Balaguer was removed from presidential power.  The city of Santo Domingo has a very important moment or very important event that becomes in the tipping point that is the beginning of the subway of Santo Domingo.  We have World' s tipping points or humanity' s tipping points.  The first and second world wars are the biggest examples of tipping point wich are very negative moments o events for the humanity.

          Honesty is a very important quality for us the human beings.  Smart people must act and react honestly.  When people decide to lie, mislead other people or conceal (change, falsify) information, they think or feel that they are cheating on others, but the reality is that they are lying themselves.  I think and believe that the most intelligent action is always to act honestly and speak with the truth.  Liars only preoccupate for the moment, but people always discover the truth and take them of the veneer or mask.  Lies always erode relationships and these erosions are very difficult to overcome.
We must always be relentless (diligent) in telling the truth.

          Nowadays is very common the use of equipment and modern technology in the workplaces.  The employers justify the use of cameras and other devices saying that it is for the employees' protection, but we know this is for surveillance and eavesdropping the employees in any moment and anywhere in the workplace or working center.  This reality is driving employees to feel demeaned and disrespected.  Employees sense someone is always watching them and this is making them feel stress or increasing it.  This controversial situation is only causing a low performance in the work of the employees.

We were created by a Spiritual God and he gave us part of his Spirit so we need to be connected spiritually with our creator.  The spiritual renewal is the way we will always be close to God and the most important he will always be close to us.  There are several aspects of our lives we must change, do or better to achieve this spiritual renewal: we must keep us full of humility, we must pray God everyday and ask for his protection, we must offer our help to everyone who need it, and something very important is fasting to keep us separated from the material world.  Nowadays we have seen how the humanity has deteriorated and we know for sure that only God has the solutions to all our problems.

MY TIPPING POINT IN LIFE: MY SUCCED.

 
        "I decided long a go never to walk in anyone shadows, if I fail, if I succed at least I live as I beleive, no matter what they take from me, they can´t take away my dignity" A piece of a song "The Greatest love of all" by Whitney Houston.

         I mentioned this part of the song, because it remids me how I started to succed in life, both economically and personally, I used to live with my mom, so I decided to fly away. First I started to work in Occidental Hotels and Resorts, that was my first job and as young girl I did not know what to do with all that money I earned. So I started to spend money in unnecesary things.

         I was hanging out with my friends, drinking, dancing. How this affected my personal life? Well, I didn´t go to classes in the university, I started a bad relationship with my family, I didn´t have a bank account, and so many things, all this was for not knowing how to manage my money well. Then I started to work in Karisma Hotels and Resorts, in there I earned more money and I still didn´t know how to manage my money.

         I got married and my husband helped me to manage it, and together went ahead, so we bought an apartment and he had a car, my money was increasing and now I work in Silanes International, a Mexican Laboratory and unfortunatelly I got divorced and we sold the apartment, but I have my bank account, I save money, I live with my mom now, but at the end of the year I will buy my new apartment with my effort.

I succedded in life, I thought I was not going to do it.

A tipping point in my life.

    For me it is something really personal of to talk about. Something that without doubt was an inflexion point or the biggest one, was my father’s death.

    I remember him as a good father, a good teacher and a good human being. He was friendly and outgoing. He had many friends that loves him as a brother.

    When he died, I was ten years old almost turning eleven. I still remember that Saturday morning that I woke up wanting to watch cartoons on T.V. and my grandpa took me and told that my dad was dead. A car crash. The night before, my dad was going home in a public car when a drunk driver crashed with them. My dad was the only one who died. And just like that my family and my life changed irreparably.

    Many years has past, my mom had to go ahead with three little children almost by her own, and even so she figured out how to rise us and get her university diploma with high grades. She is my hero.

   To explain certainly in how many aspects my father’s death changed my life would take mucho more lines, but for this assignment I think that it is enough with this important part of my story.

Bold or Bashful?

    I wrote this frase like a question, because, for me, it is like if we have the power or will choose between one or another. Of course that since we are born and during our childhood we usually fit in one of those categories, bold or bashful, speaking in general terms. Personally I don't think that pople personalities takes only one feature. Most of the time our personalities are composed for many other features blended in differentes mesures. For exalmple a person can be sociable and negative or can be a timid pollyana one.


    And somtimes when a person is not pleased with his or hers personalities, he or she can make an effort and change those details of their personalities with which they are not satisfied. That is why I wrote de title above as a question. What are we? What do we choose to be or show to people around us? extroverted or introverted?


   Wichever the answer  of these questions could be, it's something personal for each one of us.


    In my personal opinion, what's really important is to be honest with ourselves, because at the end it doesn't matter if you're bold, bashful, reticent or sociable; or how do you decide to show up yourself with people. The only thing that really cares, is to be true and coherent with what we feel, and  what we show to the world.

Spiritual Renewal

As I could a interpret Spiritual renewal is when you decide to change your life by a process of new attitudes through a religion, the most common in america to follow God or Jehová, christianism.


This chapter talks about  people of a different culture follow a religion. Orthodox christian laity has different methodologies you have to follow for getting closer to God: Ascetic, fasting, you can replenish from all of this in practice for obtaining well-being.


My personal opinion is about religions, religion is important to me, I found God, I found his glory, and his power around me , his protetion everywhere, in many circunstances. that means a lot to me in that path of know him you have  to be made new again but you know like, spiritually.

Feng Shui.

I didn't understand what was feng shui, and I looked for internet, I found that feng shui is a chinese belief, which help people to create a  positive influence in their lives,It also deals with mysterious things, secret and impossible to see. Its territory of action is situated on the border of two worlds: that of the earth  called ken kai , visible and physical, and that of the sky called yu kai, unknown, invisible and vibrating.1 It is considered from a pseudoscience To "a compendium of ancient Chinese superstitions"




The thing that I was intersted was the way we can decorate our bedrooms. The way you locate your bed is one of the most important factors when you decorate your bedroom, which it should not be next to the wall with a door or a bathroom, nor should you place it under a window or in front of a mirror. U#7 Spiritual Renewal

Hi  Dear Friends.

Well, let's talk about spiritual  renewal.

There are many forms of spiritual renewal, Many people practice small daily rituals, such as intentionally remaining quiet or spending time alone: a growing number of people choose to retreat from society for a few days often visiting a spiritual community like monastery.

A monastery is a place occupied by a community of persons, called monks (males) or nuns (female), who follow strict religious vows or promises ( NorthStar5 P.#124).

My personal opinion about spiritual renewal  is that I think that each person should have the option to choose which religion they want to belong to after knowing some of them, many people are involed in a specific religion becauses their parents follow any religion by traditions without having the oportunity to choose  what religions they want to follow by themselves. Each one person have to look for his own spiritual renewal since that must arise by vocation.

Uni # 5 Feng Shui

Hello Everybody.

Let's see below some aspects about Feng Shui.

According to the book, (NorthStar5 page# 101). The theory behind feng shui is that there is an invisible life force or energy, called ch’I (chee) that circulates through all things, rooms, buildings, people, hills, rivers, power lines. If chi flows smoothly and freely, then things go well for people. If chi is blocked then the people in that space may feel discomfort or unhappiness.📕

Feng shui is the art of aligning things in the environment to create harmony and good look.

My personal opinion about Feng Shui  is that many people don’t believe  and others don't even know it,  in my own case I didn’t know anything about  feng shui but  I believe in the positive and negative energy flowing  around me and how the objects around me can prevent positive energy from flowing.💫

After knowing what Feng Shui is, I started to consider the idea that some objects in my room were allocated in an inappropriate position, and I think that after changing them, my room has more space and it feels lighter, although I still have the same amount of objects.😶

Some people who don’t know the Feng shui consider that it is only a Chinese belief but I personally would invite them to know about this because maybe it can be useful in everyday life, when you move to a new house and organize everything again, So they would have an idea of how to align everything in a way that space reaches to distribute all objects.👴

HONESTY

  

    With no doubt, honesty is one of the most important values that human beings can posses, and  one of the main features of our personalities. It is also an actitud and, in my personal opinion, a chosen way of living.

   In the Dominican Republic honesty it's a value that has lost its worth during the lastes years. To be dishonest has became like a common behavior, and it's an every day problem that we face  in our society, from politics to our daily life, it afeccts us in all levels.

    It's dissapointing to see how society is becoming worst day by day, where people has to think twice before letting someone get into their homes and being extra awake of unknown people, when our country is widely know as a friendly one, where people treat strangers as if they were family, and now we don't even trust in our neighboors.

   And you may be wondering what's the relation between dishonesty and this lack of trust. Well, when someone isn't honest is hard to trust in he or she.

    However, dishonesty is something that can be changed and we can change it, with our behavior in our daily live, showing to our relatives and acquaintances what kind of society we want, the one that we can build with our acctions according with our values.

Unit #4 The Tipping Point

Hi everybody.

I'm going to tell you a great event that changed my lifestyle. That happened when I was 17 years old, after finishing high school, I was a person without compromises and I didn't think about my future but when I decide to go to the university everything changed, I had to start working  because  I neede money for paying the university, transportation and food.😋 

As the life goes on  I started to learn  more and more about resposability and I realized that every change that happened in those days  it helped me to become a bold person and to project myself for my own future.👴   

Why do I consider my admission to college an important event? because that was the date where I started to see life from another point of view and I joined the world of adults (I had to Work for paying bills, Study for building my own future and so on).💪

Mountain athos

 Many people would say this is the most ascetic place on earth and they may be right. According to the Info, I found on the Web it is for sure. Once I'd like to have the chance to visit this place. I was stunned by the fact that women are not allowed in Athos the only thing people do here is, pray... How a person could possibly live in this way?

The people who live here are monks. The only purpose of monks is to pray.  They don't care about anything else. Life here is hard! Monks get up at 3:00 A.M then they go to church to pray for eight hours... EIGHT HOURS praying (This is crazy) the only fun they have here is to get close to the divine.

They don't use technology, no cameras, no cellphones, no computers, no radio, and nothing related to entertainment. These things are considered distractions. Women are not allowed here only men. I think this is no fair if it is as they believe then, women are not right to get close to the divine, and this is just wrong!

This place is independent of Grece government they don't take part in policy, they don't pay taxes they don't do anything related to earthly things. Monks philosophy is purity once you become a monk you forget who you were and the only purpose of your life is Pray.

This is fascinating even though There is nothing as bore as this place is. How could you live without women around! To be honest monastery life is not for me.

                        The Internet and Other Addictions

          There are many things that can be addictive for human being, such as alcohol, drugs, some types of games, bets, food, coffee, etc., but I didn't know anything about being addicted to internet, or I didn't see or think about it in that way.  I knew about addictions but it wasn't normal to see internet, shopping, and sex as addictions.  Now we studied this in english 8, and I can tell that these are new addictions for me.  Internet for me is very important as a tool and it must be for everyone, the problem is the way we use it, and what we use it for.  Shopping for me is another thing that human must do to bay what we need, no to feel a need we have.  We the people create addictions for ourselves, we need to know when we are doing something to fill a need, no because we really need it.

Feng Shui

          It is wind and water in Chinese, experts and practitioners say this is an Art and a Science that creates physical and psychological comfort, and they recommend simple changes of the elements in our environment.  Feng Shui creates harmony and good luck and can affect our lives in several  ways, such as  health, and happiness.  According Feng shui  chee or ch'i circulates throw all things and people and if it doen't flow freely things won't go well for people. I can not believe that the simple way we locate things in our homes will affect our lives. I do believe in God, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit of God, nothing else.  The Bible says that the spiritual world is bigger than the world we know, so many things could happen around us and we can not see that, but we could feel or sense, just as feng shui says, but an art or science can do that. I know you can order things or the art of aligning things could make us feel confortable, but nothing else.

Feng shui colors.                                                    In unit five we were talking about feng shui and I wanted to know more about it and I found this. The colors in feng shui. Each color in feng shui has a special meaning.                                                       -Red: carries energy of the fire feng shui element. Fire have always been a symbol of divine energy and can be both destructive and creative. It's also color of luck.                 -Orange: is very stimulating, active,and sociable.                                                                 -Yellow: is very happy, uplifting,warn and expansive as red represent the fire element.  -Blue: is calming healing and relaxing represents the water elements, clarity,inspiration.                                                -White: represent clarity ,innocence,spiritually.                                         -Green: has an effect very calming and balancing. It represent abundance and nature.

Why is it important to be honest?

 Being honest means choosing not to lie, steal, cheat, or deceive in any way. When we are honest, we build strength of character that it will allow us to be of great service to God and to others. We will get a very good self-respect and we will be trusted by others. ( This paragragh is from www.lds.org)

Honesty is very important to me. I do not trust easily and it is easy to lose it. But, if I give you my trust is why I think you won it, and I will believe what you tell me. I trust without reservation. Honesty is a huge part . I want to be honest and I'm sure it is the best policy. An honest person speaks accurately about what they believe the reality of a situation to be. They are also open about their feelings, desires and preferences.

I hate when a dishonest people disguises themselves as honest, and they talk about honesty and the right things that you have to do, but they don't do. It is disgusting to see people talk about others, and tell that they are talking about the truth, when that person turns around, they speak the opposite and they talk bad of that person. In conclusion you have to have that kind of people away, because they are very toxic and they are very bad for your health.

This guy seems to be a Feng Shui master or something like that, As I said in the class I do not believe in these kinds of things; however, this topic is quite interesting and to be honest I am seriously cosidering try some techniques of Feng Shui only to do something different. You know, new things to escape out of routine.



This dude explains 8 simple steps of Feng Shui, in order to create balance and harmony in life. Watching this talk is not going to make you a Feng Shui master, but at least it could help you to kill boredom. I hope you enjoy this talk and try to implement some of these tips. My tipping point

My life was normal and I thought I had what I needed it, I was working all day long so I didn’t have time to go to the university but I didn’t care because I wasn’t really thinking about my future at that moment and I was just living in the present, I moved from my parents’ house so I was doing whatever I wanted whenever I wanted, I was living what almost every young man or woman wants to live, I was independent at last, but one year later without expecting it, because I thought I couldn’t have kids, I reached a tipping point in my life, I knew I was pregnant and since that moment my life was never  the same, I became a woman I never thought I would be, I am a mother and a wife and I’m really happy to be it because now I have a reason to continue, to think in the future and that’s why I returned to the university because I want the best for my family. I thank God because he changed my way of life and gave me the best gift I never asked for, my beautiful baby and a wonderful husband and I live for them and because of them. 

The Bold and bashful

In my opinion shy people have handicap or disadvantage for speaking in public, they keep aloof from other people, when they are in a classroom or work,

when people are bashful, they keep in a phobia statement, everything what happen around their, keep their scared.

when a person is bold have advantage to be leader in differents groupsthat they are part, they can be leaders, in the school, in their job, political groups and they have more opportunities for expressing their opinions in public and in the life.

To be honest I do not practice any ancient tradition from nowhere. Although I believe in Karma, it is difficult for me to accept some of those ancient traditions in china. Especially for the example that we have here in the Dominican Republic, Chinese people do not seem they practice those traditions like Feng Shui. They are really disorganized, they like to bet and so forth...

However in movies these practices like Feng Shui, Kung Fu, Tao... Are pretty popular in movies. So, they might have some truth in them. Who knows....

I got interested in her because the professor quoted her last class. So, I began doing some researches about her, and I found some interesting facts about her. Her name is Kristine Lagatrine. She is a freelance writer who has written six bestsellers including Feng Shui: Arranging Your Home to Change Your Life.

She touched some important topics of  how we can achieve happiness by ordering our homes with Feng Shui. To be honest, in beginning I thought she was Japanese or Chinese, so I was stunned when I saw an American writing about a Chinese tradition.

SHY OR BASHFUL AND BOLD PEOPLE

                      People like to make misattributions about shy peolple,  I do not agree with them.
It is said that being shy is a handicap or a disadvantage but I think these people are very intelligent.  I think they are intelligent because they are quiet peolple. They are always watching calmly.  Dr. Zimbardo could be right in his research about shy people when he says shy people are boring, they are less interesting,  they are less attractive, etc.  I do not agree with him completely because I have met  people who are shy and they are completely the opposite of  being boring, unattractive and are quite interesting.

           

The tipping point.

Almost everyone in their lifes have ever used one of these pants, jeans. They are made from denim, but no many people know the origin of these casual pants. I was curious about how they became so popular and also how they are always so fashionable.

According to Wikipedia, its origin comes from Italy. Basically these pants were created for work clothes ,Nimes tried to reproduced pants cloth in a cheaper way, so they used denim.

The original jeans that we know nowadays were inveted by Jacob w. David and Levi Strauss in 1873. It was specially created for cowboys and miners, becoming popular also in 1950 in teenagers and hippies, punk , rock , and heavy metal. It was also introduced in World War II by US soldiers.

In 1950 jeans became a symbol of rebelion. In 1960 men's and women's jeans had zippers in the front part.

Jeans comes in various colors and styles. Although it was a particular identity of American culture; nowadays is part of everyones outfit, because they look casual or classic and you can combine them with a shirt or t- shirt. They are so comfortable, am I right that jeans became a tipping point in the fashion world?

                                                                     Eastern

      Traditionally, Eastern Holidays are celebrated during the third and the fourth month of the year. Depending on the calendar. Here in Dominican Republic we take a whole week to celebrate. Public schools and private school go on vacation the whole week other institutions like UASD work from Monday to wednesday noon. Some places work the entire week like call centers and some places

       Many people go to the country during this period here in Dominican Republic to spend this time with their relatives. Beaches and Rivers are full within this period. Police is pervasive crime gets hight, accidents are so common, and churches are empty. You know this is kind of contradictory because Easter is rooted by Jesus's resurrection. These holidays are for visiting church, and think about our spiritual life and our relationship with the heavenly Father here it's the other way around.

The Bold and Bashful

Hello Dear classmates.✌

Well...........   I'm going to start by saying that I really liked that day of class , because I learned about the different personalities.  😆💪

The personalities of people are behaviors  that show you how people are going to act or how they are, some people can be extroverted, condencending, introverte, shy, unfriendly, talkative, and so on...

 I think that people who are shy always have problem in their day to day because it is difficult for them to meet people and socialize with othres, and many people can make missatribution about those people who are shy. Shy people usually are less popular that others kind of person but  that doesn't mean that they are less intelligent or that they can not achieve success, the problem is that they shy people  have to recognize their problem and try  to overcome that barrier.

On the other hand, let's talk about people who are condescending, they usually  find many problem becouse they treat the others as inferior creature and no one likes to be treated like that,  that's Why they get many enemies very often and besides  condencending people think that anybody cann't overcome them😡.

Opinion about Honesty

Hello Everybody, ✌

I want to share with you my opinion about honesty and what  usually happen with honest people. ☝  

  Honesty is a virtue that make people feel confident to express the truth, many people think that to be honest means never say lies, but to be honest it's more than just to say the truth always, is considered an honest person who is honored, respecfull, hardworker and  really fair.

People who are honest usually is amired and respected by others, the words that a honest person say  are taken into account by others, because everybody  believe in those people.

On the other hand, in D.R  it is very difficult to find an honest person nowadays, because we are living in an hypocresy time and we see many doble face people very often👹,  I think that we have to reflect  about WHAT HONESTY REALLY IS😕  and try to put it on practice day by day.

Introvert vs. Extrovert

Basically most of people personalities are divided into two groups: introverts and extroverts. Introverts are the isoted ones, they have few friends , like to spend time with themselves. On the other hand; extroverts are the sociable ones, good conversationalist and easygoing.

I read in an article when I was searching in the web that extroverts gain energy when they are surrounded people; they are talkative and think as they talk. This type of people are the ice breakers, because they enjoy interaction, it seems that social life is their strengh. Nevertheless, they are not as good listener as introverts are.

Introverts are very analistic, talk less and listen more, sonetimes these people are consider as shy and passive. They think before talk in a conversation, usually they like indoor spaces, like libraries and their homes.

According to those descriptions I consider myself as an introvert and how do you label yourself ?

I know what is to be shy

I don’t label myself as an outgoing person yet but I know I’m going there, I’m still on the way. I used to be a really shy person during my childhood and part of my adolescence, I was afraid of people not just talking to them but being around them too, but I’m doing my best to change that and I think I’ve progressed a lot, everything started changing for me when I became a teacher six years ago, working with kids helped me to see myself and others differently, I was a teacher for five years and through those years I learned that there is nothing to be afraid of that I have to speak and say what it’s on my mind even though I may think it’s wrong because people learn from mistakes. It’s been really difficult for me to change, God has helped me a lot in this path, but I can say it was a good decision for me try to be different because I wasn’t happy being so alone and I feel better as I am now, there are a lot things I still have to work on, there is a shy part in me yet but I like the part that enjoy talking to people more…

Anyway, i hope you be ok, talking about kinds of personalitys; i think we can't  identify people personality clear because it depends the moment, where and how you make them.

Usually, we know people that say things or think about your self on an incorrects ways, maybe because you made them in a bad moment for you, until a bad situation or you  just decide misbehave for avoid them.

                              Tipping Point in Los Alcarrizos

      I live in a big town which name is Los Alcarrizos. This town is far away from the civilization. It is old, dirty with a lot of crime. I really do not like this place even thought I have lived there since I was a little brat. One of my goals is to move from here once I graduate from college. There are so few things that can be metion as rewards in this dangerous town. On the other hand, Los Alcarrizos has its tipping points as well as other towns.

      We Alcarrinzenses have Los Angeles Institute which is the place I work. This English institute was found in 1992 under the leadership of Idel Brandon Montano, who is the principal since the day it was found this institute has brought joy to our community. I began my language studies here. Everything I know about English I have learned here. I learned how to speak, write, and teach in this place. Many young people get graduated with a certificate in English.

      Many of my friends including my two sisters got graduated from this place, and they are really good at English. Not because I work there I say this, but because there is quality in this place I feel very grateful to have the chance to work in this place.

      The staff of Los Angles has twenty-six capable teachers who are committed to do a great job. There are four programs for the following categories: children, adolescents, adults, and The Immersion Program for students who get a scholarship from La Mescyt. Eight teachers work with children the book we use for children is called Backpack this program has twelve levels each level spends three months, then we have junior in this program we use Mega Goal which is the name of the book as children this program spends three years each level spends three months to finish, after adolescents we have adults program the book we use for adults is Top Notch a very thick book as children and adolescents programs it spends three years, finally there is The English Immersion Program. this program is for university students only.

      Studying here is a wonderful experience I recommend this place to whoever wants to learn real English. Actually, we have inscriptions, so if you want to learn English I encourage you to pass by and see for yourself what this place is about. Thanks for reading.
